100 Blogs, 1 Simple Question About Sleep…

Here’s a secret: I didn’t actually know I was blogging.

A few years ago, I was exhausted. Burnout had me awake at night, heart racing, mind spinning. Some nights I’d lie there, staring at the ceiling, feeling like my brain just wouldn’t turn off. I’d think, “Why can’t I sleep like everyone else?”

I knew I needed an outlet, so I started writing. Pouring my thoughts, frustrations, and tiny discoveries onto paper helped me untangle the chaos in my mind. At first, it wasn’t meant to be public. It was my therapy, my way of releasing pressure.

Slowly, those private notes became something else: blogs. Observations, stories, small insights about sleep, life, and habits.

100 blogs later, and I’m amazed at the journey—and at what I’ve learned.

If there’s one lesson that stands out—something I see every day with my clients—it’s this simple question:

“Is this getting me closer to my goal, or farther away?”

It sounds almost too simple, but it’s surprisingly powerful. It’s a reminder to pause before chasing the next pill, gadget, tip, or hack. It’s a mental reset. And it’s often the question that reveals answers you already carry inside yourself.

The “Next Thing” Trap

Clients usually come to me after trying everything—pills, apps, forums, gadgets, sleep trackers. By the time they reach me, they’re frustrated, exhausted, and desperate for relief.

A few sessions in, they’ll show up with questions like:

“I read this ad over Shabbos about a new sleep method—should I try it?”

“My mom is using this supplement, and it’s helping her—should I do it too?”

“Should I stop sessions for a few weeks and see if I can do it on my own?”

Sound familiar? We all chase the “next best thing.” Magic solutions that promise instant results. And here’s the twist: the answer is almost always already inside you.

By the time I ask—or they ask themselves—the question, “Is this getting me closer to my goal?”, clarity emerges. Often, that one question is enough to cut through the noise.

The Power of the Question

That’s the real magic of coaching. We’re not here to fix you or hand you a formula. We’re guides. We ask questions that help you pause, notice, and trust what you already know.

Sleep is natural. You are not broken. Your mind and body aren’t failing—they’re just misaligned. Our job is to help them flow together again, peacefully and effortlessly.

Once you realize that, chasing the next shiny tip suddenly seems…well, a little silly.

And the beauty is this: by the time the client—or you—ask the question, the answer is already inside. You just need clarity and a little courage to act.

Real-Life Wins

Seeing this in action never gets old.

Jenny realized her job was draining her and harming her sleep. Asking herself the question gave her the courage to leave and prioritize her health.

Fay had been obsessively scrolling through sleep forums for weeks, chasing every tip and trick she could find. Deleting them helped her reclaim focus—and peace of mind.

Mia had dozens of health apps tracking every metric. She deleted them all. Obsessing over numbers was moving her farther from her goal of calm, natural sleep.

Libby struggled with unrealistic bedtime routines. She finally created a realistic sleep window that fit her life. No pressure, no guilt—just sleep that worked.

And Shevy learned to notice and welcome her thoughts and emotions instead of fighting them. Her mind started settling naturally, effortlessly.

Each of these clients already had the answers—they just needed a little clarity, reflection, and permission to act.

Why This Matters for You

Here’s the thing: small, consistent reflection beats chasing the next magic fix every time.

It’s not dramatic. It’s not flashy. But it works.

Sometimes the answer is a habit change. Sometimes it’s letting go of a forum, an app, or even a job that’s stealing your energy. Sometimes it’s simply noticing your thoughts and letting them settle without judgment.

And yes—I’ll admit it…watching clients finally “get it” is addictive. Seeing their shoulders relax, their minds quiet, and their sleep start to improve? That’s proof the question works.

Your Turn: Pause, Reflect, Decide

So here’s my invitation: if you’ve answered the question for yourself and feel that having a chat will get you closer to your goals—let’s talk.

100 blogs later, one lesson stands out: the answers you’re looking for are already inside you. Pause. Ask the question. Trust yourself. And watch what unfolds.

Small, consistent reflection beats chasing the next shiny hack every time. And sleep, like life, is always better when you trust yourself.
